The store offers both long-time and new stamp collectors a comprehensive range of Singapore and Foreign Stamps, Thematic MyStamp, Souvenirs, and Philatelic Gifts that are available exclusively in store!

Every item in the store marks a special moment in Singapore’s history. ❤

I LOVE these artworks with the stamps and how they are so complementary. The exquisite designs of the collections make them perfect for all occasions- decorations, business gifts or cherished inclusions in every philatelist’s personal collection.

Look at this red posting box behind me! This post box was from the colonial-era and it has been restored back to its former glory.

I love how the shop classifies the festive gift ideas with philately designs ranging from $5 to $10. This would help you to save your time if you are looking for affordable gifts that you can just pick, grab and go!

My picks from this range:

Look at these lovely “Greetings” stamps! Aren’t they very cute! This was only launched in November.

Stamp booklet and stamp sheets from the merlion series are available from $3 onwards. They even have postcards of this theme!

This stamp folder comes with a lanyard and it is retailing at $21.80.

Can you guess what this is?

20171116_192444

It is actually a traditional Biscuits Magnets Set! They remind me of the biscuits I used to eat when I was young. This is something that I can show my kid next time, the kind of biscuits mummy used to eat when I was young. Hehe.. Hopefully these biscuits would still be around!

The next thing that caught my eye at the shop was the Posting Boxes of Singapore Collection. I like how the pouches, cushion cover, tea towel and the tote bags reminds me of the wonderful country we live in and something to be thankful for each day.

Last but not least, I want to thank Brunches Cafe for the lovely food at the event. Brunches cafe is the latest chic vintage themed cafe located along Rangoon Road near Farrer Park MRT. They serve really nice All-day breakfast menu, sandwiches and did I mention WAFFLES and COFFEE? So cafe hoppers, you know where to do next!

Healthy Pore Management With b.liv

DSC_1383

Hi, everyone! I really can’t wait to have some break time away from work! And not to mention, I can’t wait to start some Christmas shopping! I am so tempted to do a revamp for my room, any ideas on that? 🙂

DSC_1387

Today, I am going to review one of b.liv’s product. Remember my previous post when I did a facial  scan?  They said that I have pretty dry skin. The reason for my outbreaks in the past was my body’s way to excreting some oil to combat the dryness. :/ Although my face seems okay now but I still struggle with black heads :/

Recently,  I tried out one product from b.liv that managed to help me to remove most of my black heads, especially the stubborn ones on my nose!

B.liv is pronounced as “believe”. It was established in 2009 and derived from a cosmaceutical brand. It creates really affordable personal skin care regimen and seeks to inspire and gives confidence to the youths of today in making a difference.

DSC_1393

DSC_1396

My skincare regime:

Twice a week, I would use this in place of my cleanser.

1. Simply squeeze a small amount (50 cents coin size) to your palm

2. Make sure your face is WET. Gently massage your face in an upward and outward circular motion until the Jojoba beads has dissolved.

3. Rinse your face with water.

What I truly love about this product is that it deeply cleanses my face and helps to exfoliate my skin. The Jojoba  beads are pretty fine and not too harsh for my skin.

DSC_1398

I used exfoliating products before and the beads that they had were a little painful when I massaged it on my face. I didn’t know that prolong use of such products may cause micro-lacerations that could result in premature wrinkles and provide an entrance for bacteria into my skin’s surface! :0

What is so interesting about this Jojoba beads from b.liv is that they are made from 100% pure, natural Jijoba wax and they would actually turn into an oil form after massaging it on my face, which resembles human sebum and make it beneficial to my skin.

3 Main Ingredients :

Kaolin (helps in oil control):
By absorbing excess oil & dead cells that can clog skin and result in enlarged pores

Jojoba Beads (exfoliating):
Helps to remove dead skin cells and give a healthier and glowing complexion

Tea Tree Oil (acne control)
Antiseptic, anti-bacteria and anti-oxident properties. Helps to soothe blemishes.

There is also a minty and cooling sensation on my face when applying. My skin feels super refreshed, clean and moisturised after I washed it off. It is also not dry for my skin. The blackheads on my nose have greatly reduced after using it for about a week.

DSC_1400

I would really recommend this product to anyone who has blackheads and acne problems. You can find out more about their products at BLIV.

Hope that this review helps!

With Love,

Veron

ASTALIFT Review

Hello everyone!

How’s everyone’s preparation for Christmas that is coming in a month’s time? I was busy trying to do some early Christmas shopping on 11.11 and thinking of the gifts to buy for my loved ones ❤

Recently, I went for ASTALIFT’s road show at their third boutique at Nex, the largest mall in the Northeast region of Singapore. Spanning 688 square feet, this shop features the brand’s signature red hue to signify the vibrancy and richness of ASTALIFT.

I must say that I have found many amazing products that I would definitely be considering as a Christmas gift for my family members and friends!

Do you know that ASTALIFT was created by a company that is famous for their films? Have you guessed it? It’s Fujifilm! Fujifilm is well known for not just its film but also its innovation in healthcare, graphic arts, optical devices, highly functional materials and other high-tech areas.

IMG_0673

IMG_0684

What is so interesting is that ASTALIFT infused nanotechnology and stem cell ingredients into its beauty products! I was particular attracted by their In-Focus Cell active Serum at the road show. The serum glides on the skin easily and it was absorbed into my skin instantly because of its ion sensing technology. This serum protects stem cells from stresses that cause skin damage and ageing, and activates stem cell repair and regeneration that goes beyond the skin. I am also a person who has a weakness towards serums and moisturizers that have a nice scent. This serum has a therapeutic scent as it is made up of Bergamot, Rose, Jasmine and Sandalwood.

I tried a sample from them and after 2 weeks of application on my skin:

  • Improvement in the radiance of my skin
  • Skin felt softer

How it fits into your skincare regime:

  • After the application on your toner, before you put on your moisturizer.

IMG_0676

IMG_0677

Another interesting item that I saw was the White Perfect UV Clear solution 50 + PA ++++ (30g). This item was recently launched last year and it has always been the best seller of ASTALIFT.  This product is formulated with D-UV Guard to protect the skin against the damaging UVA rays, thereby preventing age spots and freckles. I’m amazed that with just a thin application, there is enough coverage for the face. It also comes with a unique “UV Sensor Cap”, which changes its color when exposed to UV rays that contain “UVA”. You can literally hold up this cap to check for the presence of invisible UV rays.

Watch up for the “dot” of sun block placed on the cap

After shinning torch (light) on it, and removing the “dot” of sun block, the region with the sunblock on it was free from UVA rays (as seen on by the white region).

Really love the packaging and product!

There are also perks of visiting their shop as they have a skin analyser that tells you the condition of your skin and predict what might happen to your skin 20 years later.

IMG_0681

IMG_0690

IMG_0693

My skin analysis

Well, my skin’s age isn’t fantastic that I would say that it is not very bad afterall. However, you can see from the chart on my face that I lack oil and moisture on my skin which means that I have a higher tendency of getting dark spots and wrinkles.

Another product that caught my eye was the Renewal Jelly Aquarysta 40g.

Jelly Aquarysta is an effective mix of collagen and moisturizer. It tried it on and it was easily absorbed into my skin! The texture is slightly thicker than the In-focus serum.

IMG_0689

From now onwards, you can visit any of the ASTALIFT’S retail outlets to get a professional skin analysis test plus receive a 3-day sample at any of the following outlets when you quote my name “Veronica”.

Organic hair dyeing services at Mocking Jay Hair Salon

Hello everyone,

It feels great to be able to share with you my review of this place- Mocking Jay Hair Salon. If you have read my previous post, you would have known that I suffer from heredity white hair issues and I NEED to dye my hair frequently in order to really cover them. Previously, I tried to dye my hair once every half a year or so because my parents would always tell me that hair dyeing is very harmful and damaging to my hair and I don’t deny the fact that some dyes really do. Not only will it make my hair even more dry, it will also cause lasting chemical changes in the hair shaft due to the presence of chemicals like aromatic amines and phenols in these dyes.

However, I found a remedy to my woes when I found out that there are such things called organic hair dyes. So I went to JJ Hair Identity to dye my hair to try the colours and feel the difference. I’m glad to say that I have not looked back ever since. No longer do I have to bear with the stink of certain hair dyes. As they make use of natural ingredients which are Ammonia-free, Lauryl Sulfate free and Parabens free, I can now dye my hair as and when I like and need a change of colour!

So recently, this salon has expanded and they they have now opened their newest outlet- Mocking Jay Hair Salon that is located at SingPost Centre. I must say that this newest outlet is super convenient! It is just 5 minutes walk from Paya Lebar MRT station.

One thing that I really like about their salon is the personalised service. I would always be offered a drink when I am at the salon. The hair stylist-Alex is knowledgeable about the current hairstyle trends and he would ask me for my opinions first before offering his suggestions. Here’s a video of my recent trip to the salon.

The Singpost mall was reopened recently after renovation on 9th October and it is super huge! There are many shops there, ranging from fashion, entertainment, services, food and even sports! It is totally a food heaven to the food lovers as well.

So what are you waiting for? Hurry down to the mall to check out these shops out now!

5 beauty tips every woman should know

Hello there! Today, I am going to share with you the 5 tips that every woman should know and have. I would also be introducing some of the products that I swear by to look my best everyday.

#Tip 1: Always remove your make-up no matter how tired you are

IMG_6372

I feel you… I know how it feels when you are just so tired to even get out of bed to bathe after a long day. However, when you do not remove your make-up, you are causing extensive damage to your skin during the night. By having make-up on, you are preventing your skin from renewing itself. A case study even showed that sleeping in your make-up for a month will cause your skin to age by 10 years. :0

#Tip 2: Use a mild/ gentle cleanser to clean your face if you have sensitive skin

IMG_3616

Nowadays there are many people with sensitive skin and some products contain certain ingredients that would irritate the skin even further, causing it to itch. I used to have really sensitive skin because of the antibiotics pills I ate to reduce the acne. I tried lots of face cleansers and they were too harsh for my face. It took me a long time to find out what were the brands and products that were suitable for me. What I usually do before buying a facial product is that I would do a patch test on my chin before purchasing the products.

#Tip 3: Never head out of your house without any sunscreen

IMG_0138

Sunscreen should be part of your skincare regime if you have not done so! The ozone layer is depleting and you need the sunscreen to shield your body from the harmful rays. Comparing someone who wears sunscreen and someone without will be very significant 10 years down the road. The constant sun exposure will cause premature aging, skin discolouration and brown spots. So sunscreen is a must! And try to avoid the sun in the middle of the day, from about 10 am to 3 pm because the UV Raya are the strongest during this time!

#Tip 4: Exfoliate your lips and prep your lips with lip balm before your lipstick/lipgloss

FullSizeRender (2)

One thing that I recently started doing is to use sugar as an exfoliator for my lips and it’s really a cheap and good substitute. After that, prep your lips with a great lipbalm before applying a lip gloss/ lip stick! This helps to fill in any cracks and even so if you are applying a matte lipstick as this will make it more smooth and even.

#Tip 5: Take supplements for your skin

IMG_3986

For me, I drink collagen drinks as it help to rejuvenate my skin. This helps to replenish the collagen lost and retain skin supplenesS.

These are the 5 must-haves that I adopt as part of my beauty regime! Share with me what are your everyday beauty regime as well! I would love to hear from you.

Veron.

If drying your clothes is a pain, read this!

Hello earthlings,

I’m back again, this time to talk about what I am disappointed with the new HDBs.

I’ve reached the age where I would go for my friends’ house warming and I have many friends who purchased BTOs. I must say that the layout of the houses now have improved. There has been improvement in designs such as incorporating the dining area into the living room, which is something I really love because I like to watch the TV while eating my dinner 🙂 The service yard is also further away from the kitchen now so that laundry would not be affected by cooking fumes.  The common toilet has also been relocated from inside the kitchen to a location nearer to the bedrooms for the convenience of the children and also guests coming to the house.

However, what I am really disappointed is the design of the metal bars for the hanging of clothes and the service yard in the HDBs now. Many of my friends do not have a service yard, so they could only hang their clothes on the metal bars outside of their home. They were complaining to me that there were only 3 short metal bars which meant that the hanging of bed sheet was impossible.

Moreover, as they were lined horizontally and parallel to the wall, the clothes that were nearest to the wall did not receive as much sunlight as compared to the clothes that were hanged furthest from the wall, which means that clothes nearest to the wall would take the longest to dry. This problem is similar to the ones with the service yards as well, just that at least they have longer poles to hang more clothes.

While trying to help my newly-wed friends who have just moved into their new BTOs to solve this problem, I got to know about this brand- Steigen, where they came out with an  efficient solution to indoor drying conundrums.

IMG_9452

Now homeowners can dry their clothes without any hassle of worrying that their clothes will not be dried in time for the next day or there is not enough space to dry the big items like bed linens and blanket covers.

I went to the company to check out and test out their products.

IMG_9456

Currently, they have 4 automated laundry system.

steigen1

My favourite is the Exalt+ Solar because as you can see from the specs, there is twice the number of fans and heater which shortens the average drying duration to just mere 1-2 hours!

FullSizeRender_4

I think that if you are really considering an indoor automated drying system, it is a MUST to choose one that has the heat technology, if not, the average drying duration is still going to be pretty long!

There is a built-in heating technology to drive heat throughout laundry to allow clothes to dry evenly.

steigen 3

It is also customizable to fit HDBs with smaller yards. It is elderly friendly as it is very easy to operate and they  no longer have to hang their clothes on a bamboo pole and stretch out of the window to dry the clothes under the sun.

FullSizeRender_5

The remote device is also battery-operated for easy control. It can also be mounted anywhere in the house, even on the fridge!

IMG_9466

It is also obstacle friendly as the system will come to a stop if they detect an obstacle (like hitting my head accidentally).

IMG_9457

Now you might think that how is this different from using a dryer? This Exalt + Solar operates with only 0.9 kWh of energy, which is more energy efficient. Not only that, it eliminates 99.9% of bacteria and prevents musty odour (which always happens to me when I have to dry my clothes indoor during rainy days).

steigen 2.png

I have summarized the benefits of the Exalt + Solar system:

  1. Safe and effortless lifting of the laundry with the touch of a button.
  2. Can lift up to 35kg of clothes.
  3. Energy saving and cost efficient (It uses 550-1100 Watts of electricity, which is only $3.60 per month!)
  4. High quality (using German designed motor with reinforced hanger rods)
  5. Average drying time: 1-2 hours only
  6. Eliminates 99.9% of bacteria and prevents musty odour.

Who needs this Exalt + Solar system?

  1. People who are economical and environmentally friendly as they is definitely better than a tumble dryer.
  2. Working adults who can only do their laundry at night
  3. Those with aging/ elderly parents or senior citizens who are face issues with lifting heavy laundry
  4. People with a large family as the system can handle heavy weight of the clothes.

For my readers, there is a $50 discount upon checkout if you apply the discount code “STEIGEN50”. I’m definitely going to introduce this to my friends to solve their clothes drying problems! This is a MUST-HAVES for those who are looking to renovate their homes as well, why not incorporate this as part of the interior design?

The sacrifice of a mother

Hi there,

It’s been a while since I last blogged.

Sorry for the infrequent blog entries because I am still adapting to adulthood and working as a teacher. Life as a teacher is no easy feat at all! Although I must admit that it is very fulfilling especially you see your lower progress pupils improve, I think I kinda overworked myself recently.

Sometimes I just feel a little bad because I don’t get to spend as much time with my boyfriend, family and my ministry friends. But I thank God that they are really understanding and supportive of my dreams.

I realise that amidst the busyness, I miss spending time with my family the most. I miss the home cooked dishes by my mum like the old cucumber soup, egg fried rice with shrimps and not to forget the lotus soup with peanuts and pork. After a long day at work, I would always look forward having home-cooked meals like this that would be waiting for me at home. It’s wasn’t just about the food, but it’s about appreciating the love and effort put into the preparation of these meals.

I remember the days when I was younger where I would always pester my mum to walk me to the bus stop in the morning at 6.a.m as I was afraid of the dark. I remember clinging on to my mum and holding on to her hands while she walked me to the bus stop to wait for the school bus. Some kids around my age were rather independent and they would ask their parents to do that until they reach upper primary. But for me, somehow this morning routine lasted all the way till I finished my Junior College. I didn’t know how to appreciate how much she has contributed for the family when she had to juggle both work and household chores until now when I started work and I realised that having to do the household chores after work can be very tough when you are already tired after a long day at work.

Mummy I just want to say that I love you and thank you for the sacrifice you have made to the family. I appreciate you and your love for the family every single day and not just on Mothers’ Day. Being able to spend more time with you and loving you is my greatest honour.
