Keukenhof In Netherlands

Give me odorous at sunrise a garden of beautiful flowers where I can walk undisturbed.

First time entering into a large garden filled with TULIPS! As a lover of flowers, I literally went crazy over the variety of colour of tulips that Keukenhof has to offer.

Keukenhof is located between Amsterdam and The Hague and it is the best place to visit if you are planning a trip to Netherlands (Holland) in the month of April as the Tulips would be in full bloom in this period. I also heard that 7 million bulbs bloom every spring, with a whopping 800 varieties of tulips.

Not to fret if you can’t be there in the month of April because you can still catch the tulips from end March till early May!

Thankfully, I was able to make a visit to Keukenhof with my friend Vera on 14 May, two days before they close the park. We bought a ticket that included a 2-way bus ride from the Amsterdam airport and the ticket to go into the garden.

Not to mention, they sell really delicious freshly made waffles near the entrance too.

Tasted some authentic and fresh Dutch strawberries as well. Yum!

A gigantic version of the klomp-clogs from the Netherlands.

Interesting fact- Klomp (clogs) are said to be able to withstand almost any penetration including sharp objects and concentrated acids!

How could I leave this place without showing you a windmill!

While I was in Amsterdam, the weather plunged from 17 degree Celsius to 6 degree Celsius! I was totally caught unprepared and I didn’t bring any gloves or thick scarfs as I thought that the weather would be pretty hot here in Europe. Nonetheless, it was an unforgettable experience for me, shivering in the cold and bearing the harsh wind in Amsterdam.

Share with me more on what other exciting adventures you have had in Amsterdam! I would love to visit these places when I come back in Amsterdam.

With love,

Veron

Borough Market In London

Borough Market In London

File_000Strolling down the streets of the borough market!

The borough market in London was nothing short of amazing. I heard from friends that they had authentic Fish and Chips and it tastes different from what we could get in Singapore.

My friends and I took the metro and alighted at the London Bridge Underground Station. The borough market is open from 10am to 5pm everyday except on Sundays and most shops are usually open from Wednesdays to Saturdays! The market sells a wide variety of food ranging from fish, meat, vegetables to cheese and pastries. They also sell freshly made food from all over the world! The market tends to be really busy during office hours so do come down earlier if you would like to avoid the crowd.

File_002First time seeing such a humongous cheese wheel!

After a longggggg wait, my craving was finally satisfied! The fish was different indeed! I had the beer battered Fish and Chips and it tasted really awesome. The golden brown batter coating was really crispy, but at the same time it wasnt too heavy on the stomach. Inside this delightful shell, the fish was firm and had a certain bite to it, which was different from other softer fish like the Dory which tends to fall apart easily even when fried. Best of all, there wasn’t any fishy taste.

File_001And thats how true love looks like.

File_000 (2)Fresh from the ocean!!!! I think.

There is definitely so much more food that I could have tried and I wish we had more time (and stomach space) to explore this food market.

Let me know in the comments below if there is any other food that you would like me to try the next time I visit the Borough Market!

With Love,

Veron
